Louis Asker dies in Boise

Louis F. Asker, 65, died March 27 of cancer at the Veteran's Hospital at Boise.  Asker, who operated grocery stores at Grangeville and Craigmont for twenty-five years had retired to a Boise home in 1963.  

He was born Sept 13, 1911 to Oscar and Belle Asker, who were farming in the Winona area of Idaho County.  Asker received his education in schools at Grangeville and Cottonwood.  He served as a petty officer, third class, with the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He returned to the grocery business after his discharge.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.  He and Helen McLaughlin were married at Asotin, Wash., Feb. 23, 1933.  She survives at Boise.  Other survivors include two brothers, John of Grangeville, Carl of Plymouth Mass., two sisters, Ellen Blakeslee of Gig harbor, Wash., Mae Samsel of Roseburg, Ore., five sons; Louis Jr., Larry Sidney, all of Boise, Ron of Lewiston and Tim of Woodcross, Utah, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were scheduled for march 30 in Boise.
