COLONEL BECK DEAD – General Orders Relative to the Sad Event

By direction of the commander-in-chief of the Idaho National Guard, Adjutant General Alliance Case has issued a general order relative to the death of Colonel Edward Beck, which sad event occurred at Grangeville on the 8th inst.  The order gives Colonel Beck’s military record, reciting that he joined the Sixth Kentucky cavalry in 1863, was transferred in 1864 to Company H, Sixteenth V.R.C. and subsequently served 12 years in the regular army.  He was elected captain of company C, First Infantry, I.N.G.  January 2, 1890; and on December 11, 1892 he was elected colonel of the First infantry.

As a mark of respect officers of the regiment will wear the usual badge of mourning for 30 days.

Lieutenant Colonel W.W. Hammell First infantry I.N.G.  is directed to assume command of the regiment.
