WHITEBIRD ~~~ The Angel of Death came again to the Doumecq and called from our midst Grandma Campau, mother of James Campau of this place. Mrs. Campau came here from Michigan last fall to live with her son. Her health which was poor at the time seemed to improve but last Saturday she took the grippe and was too feeble to withstand it. She died Wednesday morning May 6, and was buried Thursday afternoon in the local cemetery, Rev. Ford of Whitebird conducting the funeral. She was 88 years old. In searching the 1880, 1900 and 1910 Michigan census, it is possible her name is Ruth C. Campau (Campan) as the dates and places for her and James coincide. I could not locate her in the Idaho Death Index.. 1900 Census gives her birth date as May 1828, Michigan; the mother of 11 children, 8 living and widowed.
