William Kemp, 77

William “Bill” Kemp 77, of Grangeville died June 20, 1995 at Conway, Ark. Of a heart attack while visiting relatives.  Bill was born Sept 8, 1917 at Forest, Idaho, as son of Leonard and Constance Bent Kemp.  He attended school at Forest.  He married Della Donnally on Nov. 30, 1940, at Lewiston.  He worked on his family sheep ranch on the Salmon River before moving to Mount Idaho in 1943.  He worked driving logging trucks, at sawmills, meat cutting and carpentry.  In 1943 he helped build the Pine Cove dance hall in Mount Idaho it later burned.  He retired in 1979.

Bill was very active in the community.  He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge having served as past Noble Grand.  He was a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge #67, Prairie Shriners, 25 year member of Mount Queen Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Past worshipable president of the Eagles Lodge #539, Chapter Dad for Prairie Order of Demolay, Guardian Council for Job’s Daughters, Grangeville Elks Lodge and was on the board of directors for the Grangeville Campfire District

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, mushrooming and raising a small herd of sheep.  He also enjoyed making sausage, gardening, reading, traveling, playing pinochle and cribbage.

He is survived by his wife at the family home; one son, Rick Kemp, of Newberg, Ore.; two daughters, Becky Moriarty of Clarkston, Wash., and Kaylynn Irusta of Boise; one brother, Walter Kemp, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William, and one daughter, Connie Kemp.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Noland Funeral Home, Grangeville.  Pastor Chris Blair  of the Grangeville Christian Church will officiate.  Graveside fraternal rites will be conducted by the Winchester Masonic Lodge at Mount Idaho Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Noland Funeral Home, Grangeville.
