May 17, 1895

John Kirby, better known through the Salmon River settlements as “Red”, was drowned at the state bridge on May 8.  He accidentally fell into French creek and was carried down by the swift current into the main river and was not seen afterwards.  A search was made for his body, but up to this time, the body has not been recovered.
