Died August, 14

James Riggs, aged 66 years, died at Red River hot springs Sunday, Aug. 14th, of general debility.  The deceased was a native of Ireland and came to the United States with his parents in his childhood.  They settled in New Orleans where both parents died, leaving two children, the deceased and a brother, of whose whereabouts nothing is known.  Mr. Riggs followed prospecting for years and like a great many who give the best years of their life so that pursuit, found himself penniless and dependent upon the charity of stranger on his last solitary trail.  In this, however, deceased was unusually fortunate, particularly in the disinterested ministrations of Dr. Cullen, the owner of the hot springs, and the numerous parties who were camped there on their vacation.
