WHITEBIRD NATIVE SUCCUMBS MONDAY AT MOSCOW CENTER

MOSCOW – Mrs. Alice Russell, 84, former Whitebird resident, died Sunday at the Latah Convalescent Center following an extended illness. (1-16-72)

She had been a Moscow resident since 1963, and prior to that she lived at Whitebird.

  She was born Jan. 3, 1888, at Whitebird.  She received her education in the Slate Creek and Lewiston schools.  She married Ralph Russell Oct. 14, 1914 at Whitebird where he operated a ranch in the Spring Camp area.  The family later moved to a ranch between Slate Creek and Whitebird where she lived until moving to Moscow.  He died in 1950.

Survivors include a son, George Russell, Moscow; and five grandchildren.

A rosary and memorial service is scheduled Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. John Koelsch officiating.  Funeral mass will be Thursday at Whitebird Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Robert Waldmann, pastor of the Ferdinand Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will be at Whitebird Cemetery.
