DIEDThomas - In Grangeville I.T. December 3, 1887.  Lyman L. Thomas, aged 27 years.  He was born in Iowa, and came to Oregon in 1864.  In 1883 he married Miss Mary M. Franklin, of Island City, Oregon, and in July of the same year he came to Camas Prairie and settled on a ranch in the Clearwater country, where he has ever since resided.  His last illness was caused by a cold which rapidly developed into Typhoid Pneumonia and after 10 days of severe sickness he breathed his last at the residence of G.W. Chamberlain on Saturday last at 11:00 a.m.  the funeral service was conducted by Rev. D.E. George, M.E. Minister on Sunday at 3 p.m. when sorrowing friends bad a last adieu' and left him to sleep the sleep that knows no waking by human power.  (Grande Ronde papers please copy)
