MRS. SOPHIA VON BERGE

  MRS. SOPHIA VON BERGE, nee RATHE, passed away at her home two miles west of Fenn at 10 o'clock p.m. on August 23, 1930. She was born in Hanover, Germany, on June 13, 1842, and came with her parents to the United States in 1848, locating in Cook County, IL. She was married to J.H. Von Berge in 1859. To this union 13 children were born, of which eight are now living; Emma, Addie, Anna, and Henry at home, and Tillie, Mrs. Frank McGrane, Mrs. Henry Meyer, and Mrs. Helena Hauger of Grangeville. Eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive her. She moved to Idaho County with her family in 1883 and located on the homestead where she resided until her death. She was christened and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She was a pioneer Christian mother and was beloved by all who knew her.
