ELIZABETH WOOD PASSES

Elizabeth Wood, 87, a resident of the county for more than 60 years, who figured prominently in the history of the county, passed at her home in Monterey, Calif. Dec. 10, according to word received here by her grandson John ?

Wood was born on Staten Island and came to the Salmon river, only when a small girl.  She was married to Charles Wood in 1866, and her husband established the trading post formerly known as Freedom, Slate Creek.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Norwood, Monterey, Calif., and Mrs. Craig L. Spencer of Seattle; four sons Chas Wood, Miami, Florida, and Frank Wood of Seattle and ? Wood, Los Angeles.

Cremation was held at Monterey and burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville
