WILLIAM JAMES YATES

  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, 1942, at the Hancock Funeral Home for William James Yates, age 69, with the Rev. Jasper C. Havens, pastor of the Christian church, officiating.

  Mr. Yates was born Jan. 21, 1873, at Looking Glass, Oregon.  He came to this country when 10 years of age, and had been a farmer in this section.  He was united in marriage to Mrs. Grace Rose, Aril 10, 1905, at Asotin, Washington.  He died at home February 15, 1942.

  Mr. Yates leaves his wife, Mrs. Grace Yates, and one son, Stanley, of Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. Cornelius Nail of Grangeville, Mrs. Blanche Sutter of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. Betty Steinhouse of Los Angeles; one step-daughter, Mrs. Clara Jacobson, Los Angeles; one step-son, Edward Goda, Los Angeles; two brothers, Joe, of Grangeville, and Lee of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Chris Schmadeka, of North Hollywood, Calif., and seven grandchildren.

  Pallbearers were Norman Witherow, Henry Goodwin, Jake Eimers, John Bentley, Charles Gill and Hugh Arnold.
