RASH DEED OF AN INSANE MAN

Robert Rasmussen Hangs Himself in Grangeville Jail

Grangeville Dispatch says:  Robert Rasmussen, who has been confined in the city jail since being declared insane by Judge Taylor a few days ago, committed suicide this afternoon b y hanging himself with a rope mad of strips of his blanket and suspended on a heavy nail driven in the wall over his bed.

Rasmussen had been acting queerly of late since finishing the carpenter work for the Grangeville Electric Light Company.  He secured a marriage license to wed Sophia E. Palmateer, who does not seem to be known to anyone in this town.

The jailer had been gone from the jail but a few minutes, when he returned to find Rasmussen, hanging beside his bed.  He had evidently made the noose, thrown the end over the nail, and after tightening the rope around his neck, had stepped off the bed.
