DIED

BROWN – At Mount Idaho, I.T.,August 2, 1873, John T. Brown, aged 43 years.  Dr. Brown was born at Stratford, N.H., Dec. 11, 1830, and was a brother of Hon. Lyal P. Brown, our present esteemed Postmaster.  He emigrated to the Umpqua Valley, Oregon, in 1858, and from thence he came as one of the pioneers of Northern Idaho in 1862 and engaged in mining at Elk City.  In the Spring of 1867 he settle with his famiy near Mount Idaho.  Here, after six years of the toil and privation incident to frontier life, he established an attractive home and was looking forward with pleasing anticipations to some relaxation in the battle of life and the enjoyment, with his unbroken family circle, of the fruits of his well-earned prosperity.  But the Master called him and his work was done.  His place in this community cannot well be filled.  His modest and unassuming demeanor hid manyh noble qualities.  It was not enough to be strictly honest and upright in his dealings with his fellow-men, he was generous and loved to help.  Far from being robust in health, he was nevertheless cheerful and hopeful, looking always on the bright side.  Respected as a citizen, highly esteemed as a friend and neighbor, and ardently loved by his family, the community feel his loss in deep sympathy with his faithful wife and five interesting children who survive him.
