JOSEPH A. CASH
Joseph A. Cash, a longtime resident of Winchester, died
Wednesday evening, February 25 at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center of a
heart attack. He was 73.
He was born November 15, 1913 to John and Eva Cash at Grangeville. As a young
boy, Cash attended Mountain View County School near Grangeville. He worked in
the local sawmills and in the woods. He also worked with horses.
In 1935, he married Violet Lamb Yates. The couple moved to Winchester in 1948.
Cash continued working in the woods and sawmills there.
Survivors in addition to his wife at the family home, are four sons, Thomas J.
Cash and Rich S. Cash, both of Winchester; David L. Cash of Julietta, and
Kenneth R. Cash of Lewiston; two daughters, Lois M. Weiler and Linda L. Rupe,
both of Winchester; one stepson, Charles Yates of Yakima; four brothers, Keith
and David Cash, both of Grangeville; Vance Cash of Mount Idaho and Gordon Cash
of Riggins; three sisters, Evelyn Reiner of Grangeville; Beulah McArthur of
Torrance, California, and Viola Brown of Portland; 23 grandchildren and 24
great-grandchildren.
One son, two sisters, and two brothers died previously.
A graveside service was held Monday, March 2, at the Mount Idaho Cemetery with
the Rev. Kim Alexander of the Winchester Community Church officiating
