Lyle G. Hendren, Stites, 72Thursday, February 12, 2004 Lyle Gordon Hendren of Stites was born Oct. 16, 1931, to Stella Reed Hendren and Elbert Hendren on the lower Kidder Ridge near Kooskia. He was the third youngest of 11 children. In July 1951, Lyle married Betty Jean Paul. In 1954, daughter Kay Anne was born. In the spring of 1972, Lyle and Betty were divorced. In November 1972, Lyle married Lois Hardy and adopted a baby girl, Susan Hendren. They were foster parents to Michael Brotnov and to their grandson, Ezra Bartlett. He served his country in World War II. He was also the mayor of Stites for eight years. Lyle loved the outdoors, working with horses and helping his fellow man. Lyle died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. His wife, Lois, survives him at their home in Stites. He is also survived by his daughters, Kay Anne Hendren Beebe of Forks, Wash., and Susan Hendren Ridgeway of Harper's Ferry, W.Va.; son Bill Bartlett of Boise; and grandchildren Loni Beebe of Bellingham, Ezra Bartlett of Centralia, Wash., Travis Beebe of Port Angeles, Cherie Bartlett of Kuna, Idaho, and Marc Beebe of Forks; and four great-grandchildren. His parents; four brothers, Kenneth, Gilbert, Tom and Floyd Hendren; and a grandson, Rick Beebe, preceded him in death. A graveside memorial service is at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Kooskia. Dinner and music will follow at the Kooskia IOOF Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia. |
