This is not an obituary. Only an articel on Mr. McClary missing. When I find an obituary I will add it. Ferdinand Enterprise January 21, 1916 McLARY’S ABSENCE
IS STILL A MYSTERY Left Lumber Camp
January 12th and Not Seen Since WAS COMING TO
FERDINAND Feared He Became
Exhausted While Enroute and Frozen to Death W.J. McClary, who has been running a gasoline wood sawing outfit in partnership w ith Mike Early on the W.E. Goodall ranch five miles west of Ferdinand, is missing and diligent search for him has been unavailing. At about 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12th, he left his cabin declaring he was coming to town to procure his horses which had left the place the Monday previous and came to this place. But no one has seen him since he left his cabin, either here or elsewhere. Fears are entertained that he was taken sick and sat down and was frozen to death. That day was bitter cold and enough snow has fallen sine to cover up the body, should such be the case. Acquaintances of the man declare that they can give no reason why McClary should desire to leave this section. He woed a few bills about the neighborhood but appeared to be getting on so well financially that none of his debtor felt in the least uneasy about him being unable to meet his obligations when due. Searching parties who have been out can find not the minutest clues of foul play and it may require the spring thaw to clear up the mysterious disappearance. McClary was about 40 years of age, and his good clothing and all personal effects were left at his cabin. |
