HOMER E. MATTISON

Homer E. Mattison, a former Grangeville citizen who passed away at Los Angeles, Cal., on December 12, death being due to an operation for cancer of the throat, was born in Iowa in 1858 and came to Idaho, settling in Grangeville October 19, 1884, where he resided until last year, at that time to California in the hope of benefiting his health.  Mr. Mattison was employed for a number of years by Henry Wax, a pioneer merchant of this town and later embarked in business for himself.

Mr. Mattison was a true husband and father, a Christian gentleman and an excellent citizen.  It was the privilege of the writer to have known the deceased most intimately for a number of years and can truthfully testify to these words of commendation of a good man.  The deceased is survived by a wife, child and sister who have the sympathy of the community in which he formerly lived
