Idaho County Free Press Wed. 01/31/1990 Neuton D. Pollan Neuton Douglas Pollan, 63, a semi-retired sawyer at Grangeville, died Saturday, January 27, 1990, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy. He was born Feb. 12, 1926, at Centralia, Wash., to Joseph and Myrna Droogs Pollan. He had lived his entire life at Mount Idaho. He graduated from Grangeville High School in 1943. From 1943 until 1947, he served in the U.S Army in World War II. He returned to Mount Idaho and went to work in the logging industry as a tree faller, a profession he spent his entire adult life doing. He married Alta Blankenship Feb. 19, 1946 at Cottonwood. He semi-retired in February of 1988. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting, and loved to cut and polish rocks. He was a member of the Grangeville Eagles Lodge. Survivors include his wife at the family home, two sons, Doug Pollan of Harpster, and Jeffrey Pollan of Grangeville; two daughters, Leta Strauss of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Jill Pollan of Grangeville; his mother, Myrna Moore of Weippe; a sister, Ronnie Zink of Weippe; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Noland Funeral Home at Grangeville with Pastor Billy Wikoff of the Gospel Tabernacle Church of Grangeville officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Idaho Cemetery. The family suggests memorials go to Syringa General Hospital at Grangeville. Services under the direction of Noland Funeral Home of Grangeville.
