APRIL 7, 1904

William Smead, who recently died at Baker City, Ore., was a native of Warren, sister, Mrs. Madge Leech.  He was about 25 years of age and a miner by occupation.  He was taken with cancer about a year ago and went to Portland for treatment last fall and improved rapidly.  He was on his way back to Warren when he was taken seriously ill at Council and was afterwards taken to Baker City where he remained until his death.
