JULY 8, 1909 Word was received last week that Mrs. Herbert Thorpe of Secesh Meadows is dead. She had been fishing along the Secesh creek which is very high and must have fallen into the water accidentally or been overcome by heart trouble to which she was subject. Mr. Thorpe is superintendent of the Gott Mining co., and when the miners came in from their day's work and not finding Mrs.. Thorpe at home a search was at once begun and her body found in the creek lodged against some driftwood, and was very badly bruised. Mrs. Thorpe left an 18 year old daughter, Ruby, a grown daughter and son. Those attending the funeral from Warren were Mr. and Mrs. Goodel, Mr.. and Mrs. Toney, Wm. Patterson, George Chapman, Gus Kupper and C.C. Zumwalt. Mrs. Thorpe was beloved by all who knew her and was devoted to her family. She was buried in the Secesh Cemetery.
